About This Angel:

My mother took her own life on her 75th birthday. Her plans were very organized, and she never spoke of them. I didn’t know that suicide was something that happened to older folks. I never saw this coming. Please help me raise awareness… had I only known.

But my story doesn’t end there. Eight months later, my stepson also died by suicide. His choice brought us to our knees. If only he had known the pain his little brother would carry, I believe he’d still be here today.

Our family has seen both heartbreak and miracles. Four years earlier, our 14-year-old daughter survived an attempt on her life. After 18 days in ICU and weeks of rehabilitation, she relearned how to walk and talk. Today, she is grown and has a little girl of her own.

Each story is different, but all are tied to mental health. Some cries for help were dismissed. Some moments were caught just in time. If I had all day, it still wouldn’t be enough to paint the picture of what the word suicide means to me.
