FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Suicide Prevention Rocks was started September 4, 2018 as a method to foster healing after the loss of Joshua York. The group uses art as a form of therapy to encourage emotional expression and hope. Rocks are painted with positive messages and promote suicide prevention and awareness throughout the world. The group has over 36,100 members in all 50 US States and 99 foreign countries on 6 continents.
On May 15th, JYLF will be setting a Guinness World Record for the “Largest Display of Painted Pebbles and Stones.” The event will occur on the sports track at Patterson High School, 100 Kane St, Baltimore, Maryland, 21224 and will be open to public beginning at 11 am. A five-minute countdown to the record will occur between noon and 2 pm. After the countdown, visitors will be allowed to view the display up close. The entire event will be broadcast live via our Facebook page The Joshua York legacy Foundation.
In addition to the record setting display, there will be opportunities to learn more about suicide prevention and awareness, the Foundation, to paint rocks, receive colored beads to support awareness, take a picture with our “Angel Wings”, and to receive a painted rock. Foundation merchandise will be available to purchase.
Special thanks to all the members, advocates, survivors, and communities who have participated throughout the world make this event possible. Hundreds of “Rockers” from every U.S. State and eight foreign Countries have made this day possible through the donation of painted rocks to the Foundation.

In military terms, I’m known as a “Maverick,” meaning I began my career as enlisted and finished as an officer. Six years of my enlisted service were spent investigating major crimes committed by and against USAF personnel. During that time, I investigated many violet acts, including child physical and sexual abuse, rape, murder, and suicide. As a commissioned officer responsible for those in my command, my experience with suicide continued to grow. I was able to help save lives by recognizing signs and ensuring they received mental health assessments and the help they needed.
